A museum opened in Budapest for Harry Houdini, the famed Hungarianborn illusionist known of his escape acts. Located in the Buda Castle, the House of Houdini museum has exhibited Houdini’s personal instruments including his handcuffs, straitjackets and books.

There is, of course, Gerbeaud while Ruszwurm on the Castle Hill has remained almost exactly the same as it was when my husband was taken there eighty years ago as a treat if he got a good report at school.

Baltazár in Buda Castle, led by Zsolt Litauszki, is one of the country’s best restaurants, with an adjacent B&B that is rated second among Budapest hotels on Tripadvisor. Fine dining in Buda Castle, a Michelin sticker on th door and we tried that particular perfect hamburger which has become even more perfect since rising to fame.
