The national Hungarian water polo team has suffered a huge defeat to Serbia in Fina’s World League Super Finals final match. Playing a match on the six consecutive day of the tournament the Hungarian team seemed to be tired and disoriented, two facets that the Serbian team did not show signals of.

Alpine skier Edit Miklós came in 7th in ladies’ downhill in Sochi on Wednesday, setting a Hungarian olympic record. The skier finished with a time of 1:42.28 after Lotte Smiseth Sejersted from Norway. Miklós, born in Szekler Land, Romania, is so far the 16-strong Hungarian olympic team’s most successful sportswoman.

The first thing to say about the Hungaroring, is that it can be phenomenally dull; at least it could be up until last year. For most of its 25+ year history on the F1 calendar, the tight and twisting bowl-shaped track on the outskirts of Budapest came with the reputation of regularly hosting complete snoozefests. British Ambassador to Hungary Jonathan Knott is preparing for a charity swim across the Lake Balaton. The high ranking UK diplomat will swim 5200 meters from Révfülöp to Balatonboglár on 6 July with the aim of raising funds for the Hungarian National Lifesavers Service Association (VMSZ) and its British sister agency, the Royal National Lifesavers Institute (RNLI).

Polo, “The Sport of Kings” was first played in Persia in the 5th century BC. Originally, it was a training game for cavalry units, usually the king's guards. The modern game, formalized and popularized by the British, has now arrived to Hungary. Taking place at Kincsem Park, the “Polo Festival” was held, with Arena polo matches, fashion show, hat competition, pony riding and lots more.
