Tens of thousands of cyclists have taken part in the “I Bike Budapest” event on Saturday afternoon, the state news agency MTI has reported. The march began at Bakáts tér in District IX, central Budapest and arrived at Margaret Island some three hours later, where the cyclists traditionally held their bikes to the skies as the procession came to an end.

The legal procedure to classify Hungarian-style circus horse acrobatics as a Hungaricum has begun, State Secretary for Culture Péter Hoppál announced at the opening of a new show at Budapest’s Metropolitan Grand Circus on 10 January. The State Secretary supports the renewal of the building of the Circus within the Liget Budapest programme.

The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was popularized at King’s College, Cambridge, by the then Dean Eric Milner-White. The music at that first service in Cambridge in 1918 was directed by Arthur Henry Mann and was first broadcast by the BBC in 1928.

When his money ran out, he started sleeping rough and then busking inside the Metro at Place de Clichy station. COncert starts at 8 p.m.

Traffic changes will be made in public transport service and on roads and Danube bridges on the eve and the day of St. Stephen’s Day (Tuesday, 19 August and Wednesday, 20 August 2014). Already on 19 August 2014, traffic restrictions will be in place at several locations in the city due to preparations for the celebrations, therefore some public transport lines will run on modified routes.
