There are many bank holidays, and some extra ‘rest days’ in Hungary this year. As you can see from the easy to read lists below, instead of having one free day in the middle of the work week, Hungarians usually prefer to have long weekends in exchange for a Saturday that would otherwise be a ‘rest day’.

Because of the migration pressure, the number of people coming from western Europe to settle in Hungary has gone up between 20% and 40% over the past several years, the interior ministry’s parliamentary state secretary said at a farewell ceremony for a police contingent in Budapest.

Every year since 2008, the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Müpa Budapest have put on an all-day marathon production, most of them presenting the very best work of a given composer, with a series of consecutive concerts running from morning until late in the evening in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall and the Festival Theatre.
