There is a very real refugee crisis unfolding in Hungary, and nobody knows how long it will last. The government provides funding for everything except essentials: billions of forints squandered on billboard campaigns and a 175-kilometre border fence, while the migrant servicing system is overwhelmed. The answer has yet to be found on a European level, as well.

Homelessness in Hungary is back in the news. Recently, the municipal government of Budapest approved a local ordinance that prohibits so-called “habitual living” in certain designated areas of the capital – mostly Budapest’s world heritage sites and parts of downtown.
Two Die, Thousands Stranded In Snow In Hungary

Two people died, more than 40 people sustained injuries and nearly 6,000 cars were stranded on public roads due to the snowstorm on Friday. The two were killed when over 50 vehicles collided in a snarl-up at Szabadbattyán near Lake Balaton on the M7 motorway.

"As many as 35 people have died of exposure in the past ten days, as the temperature has not risen above the freezing point, National Police spokesman László Garamvölgyi told reporters on Tuesday. He said police have saved 856 others from freezing to death.
