Hungary's PM Orbán Stresses Hope Over Facts
"Hope is more important to Hungarian voters than facts. This is a key element of the Hungarian mind,” Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said during his Friday interview on Kossuth Rádió as he discussed possible election campaign themes.

Consequently, he observed, it is only worth coming forward with an election programme that does not talk about what has been accomplished, but about opportunities that can be offered to people.

He recalled that at last weekend’s meeting of Fidesz politicians and right-wing intellectuals at Kötcse, he warned that if the party highlights the achievements of the government, then that would seem like “success propaganda,” due to the Communist past.

They should instead say that “Hungary is performing better” and should talk at least as much about the problems left to be solved as about results, he advised.
