Two Killed In Gyõr Basketball Team Bus Crash
The team manger and coach of the Gyõr women’s basketball team were killed when their bus crashed head-on into a car and ended up in a roadside ditch on Saturday. The car had swerved into the oncoming lane on route 85 between Kapuvár and Vitnyéd as the bus was carrying the team to a friendly game in Sopron.

One player, a member of the Serbian national team, has had her leg amputated, and seven other injured passengers are receiving treatment in hospitals in Gyõr, Sopron and Szombathely.

Team manager Péter Tapodi died on the spot, and senior coach Ákos Fûzy died later in a hospital in Gyõr.

Police are launching proceedings against the 69-year-old driver of the car on suspicion of negligent driving. He suffered a fractured pelvis and was detained at Gyõr hospital Saturday evening.
