Media Authority Wins Case Against Hungary’s Sláger Rádió
The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) has ruled in favour of the state of Hungary in a dispute with music radio-station Slager Radio regarding the legal authority of a 2009 decision not to renew the station’s frequency, the National Development Ministry announced on Thursday.

Sláger Rádió had claimed 83.3 million dollars as compensation for the damages caused. Sláger Rádió sought arbitration from Washington, DC-based ICSID in the station’s objection to the 2009 decision of the ORTT media authority, the predecessor to current media authority NMHH, not to renew Sláger Rádió’s frequencies, which ORTT awarded instead to Neo FM and Class FM.
