Lázár: Hungay Romania Border Will Be Sealed If Necessary
The government is ready and willing to seal the border between Hungary and Romania quickly if necessary, the government office chief said. János Lázár told a weekly press briefing that Austria and Slovenia were already building border fences and there was a chance that illegal migrants in Serbia would change their route and travel in the direction of the Hungary-Romania border. The Hungarian government has a contingency plan for protecting the border, Lázár said.

At the same time, he added that building a fence on the Hungary-Romania border will be only a last resort. It is possible that the fence will be in the hundreds of kilometres starting from the region around the southern Hungarian city of Szeged, he added.

He reiterated that Hungary will not take back any migrants expelled from western Europe.

“Our interest lies in stopping migration and not with organising it.” Lázár underlined that Hungary will not accept any migrants who have been sent back by countries that have rejected them.

The minister said that the “political programme of George Soros”—the Hungarian-born US financier—is “Europe will be better the more migrants there are on the continent.”
