Felling Of Trees In Budapest City Park Halted
The Dialogue for Hungary party will file a formal accusation of abuse of office over the unannounced felling of trees in the City Park last week by city landscaping company Fõkért.

The party will also turn to the ombudsman, as it feels that the cabinet has violated the constitutional right of the people of Budapest to a healthy environment.

In the wake of Thursday’s tree cutting, several parliamentary parties joined the Dialogue initiative on Friday.

Fõkért did not resume efforts to chop down trees after protesters prevented the company from chopping down trees and demolishing the park’s Kertem bar.

Police launched an inquiry after a policeman tried to discourage former Fidesz environmental protection state secretary Zoltán Illés from removing a fence cover outside Kertem on Thursday.
