Szijjártó Outraged By New EU Proposal
Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó yesterday railed against a proposal by European Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos on attracting skilled workers to the EU.

In his proposal presented on Tuesday, Avramopoulos argued for the reform of the EU’s Blue Card system introduced in 2009 to lower the salary and academic qualification requirements for granting residence status to highly qualified labour arriving from third countries outside the EU.

Szijjártó, who is in China, declared that with such proposals the European Commission “more and more creates the impression that it wants Europe to lose, as masses of immigrants could invade Europe,” adding that “such proposals are seen as an invitation by immigrants and people-smugglers”.
