Varga: EU Should Focus On Economy, Political Cooperation
The European Union needs to concentrate on economic cooperation and reconsider and “even slow down” political partnership, the Hungarian economy minister said. Mihály Varga noted that the EU has developed from economic cooperation, which calls for reinforcing.

Partnerships should be reconsidered, because if a member is “forced” into such cooperation it might create great internal tension, which could even lead to “quitting as a realistic option”, Varga insisted, and referred to Brexit as an example.

The European Union is “an important asset” and Hungary’s membership cannot be questioned “for a moment”, Varga said, but added that “economic and political conditions” for that cooperation should not be neglected.
