New Restrictions On Asylum Seekers
The government has imposed more restrictions on the admission of refugees and their opportunities to request asylum status from November 1, HVG reports. Last year PMO leader János Lázár promised that 100 requests would be processed each day, but this figure has by now been reduced to ten.

In the latest development, the Immigration Office has decided that asylum seekers may submit applications only between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and that Office staff will not work on Saturdays and Sundays.

As many as 10,000 refugees could be staying in Serbia. The decision has taken the Serb authorities by surprise.
