Gov’t Wants Young To Stay In Rural Areas
The government is making Ft 10 billion available in an initiative designed to encourage young Hungarians to stay in or move to smaller towns and villages.

Human Resources Ministry state secretary Katalin Novák announced on Monday that municipalities with 3,000-20,000 residents can apply for funding for two years, starting from March 6.

The winning communities may receive grants of Ft 50-200 million through the Esély Otthon (“Chance at Home”) scheme.

The funds are to help those aged 18-35 to find opportunities in smaller communities to find work, build homes and raise families.

Rural municipalities may use the funds to make themselves attractive to young people.
