Covid Update: Fatalities in Hungary Rise on Weekend
Another 31 people died in the coronavirus epidemic in Hungary over the weekend, in three days.

With weekend death totals rising from nine four weeks ago to 20 last weekend, there is a spectacular deteriorating trend, website 444 writes.

The daily average of mortalities in the past week was eight.

There are 27 more Covid patients treated in hospitals, meaning 560 people. At this time last year, at the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic, there were 685.

Now there are 87 people in need of a ventilator, whereas half a year ago there were 42, which is half as many.

Infection rates are also deteriorating, shown by the fact that 4.6% of all tests performed over the weekend were positive. The average for the past week is 4%.

Due to the small number of tests, it is difficult to draw far-reaching conclusions from the raw infection numbers, and significant data is missing from the statistics, namely the number of infections among the vaccinated. However, an upward trend is clearly visible.

The situation with vaccinations is not improving either, with 4,000 receiving their first injection over three days. The daily average is now a little above 2,000.
