Another seven people are confirmed to have contracted the monkeypox infection, according to the National Health Centre (NNK), raising the number of verified infected people to 19 in Hungary.

Those infected are aged 29-41 and most of them live in Budapest.

The patients have mild symptoms, are staying at home, and are not in need of medical attention in hospital.

The NNK said the latency of the virus is in general six to 13 days but could be five to 21.

The European Commission has announced that shipping of monkeypox vaccines began on Tuesday.
