New Central Health Authority Established in Hungary
Hungary’s National Public Health Centre (NNK) and National Institute of Pharmacy and Nutrition (OGYÉI) will be integrated into one authority as of August 1, the state secretary for health said.

The merger is aimed at setting up a streamlined authority operating under a more transparent structure and tasked with overseeing Hungary’s health care, Péter Takács told a press conference.

The structural change is hoped to boost efficiency of health-care services and accelerate the approval and licensing of medicines, he said.

The new authority will operate under the name National Public Health and Pharmaceutical Centre (NNGYK) with chief medical officer Cecília Müller serving as its director, said Takács.
