AI Competency Centre to be Established in Budapest
- 22 Oct 2025 5:26 PM
IVSZ chief secretary Krisztina Tajthy said the centre would offer AI development support as well as education and training programmes. She added that the aim of the project was to establish the conditions necessary for local SME software developers to implement AI-based innovation.
IVSZ was awarded HUF 998m in European Union and state support for the project which is expected to wind up in the autumn of 2028.
Laszlo Palkovics, the government AI commissioner, said the centre would be a "big opportunity" for businesses. He added that the government's AI strategy, drafted in 2020, had yielded tangible results and highlighted plans for an AI assistant established by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) to support SMEs with economic data.
Laszlo Belenyesi, the deputy state secretary for implementing EU developments, said ICT services in Hungary had expanded an annual 6.4pc, on average, in recent years.
