The fifth missing piece from the Trau (today Trogir) cycle of paintings by 20th century artist Tivadar Kosztka Csontváry has allegedly been found after 113 years, after the artist’s family approached the gallery wanting to put it up for auction.

Imre Kiss, the founding head of the Palace of Arts, and the man responsible for creating the Budapest Spring Festival in 1981, died on Sunday at the age of 69 following a lengthy illness, the Palace of Arts announced. The cabinet has redirected Ft 1.4 billion to provide a special subsidy for the State Opera, as it faces a funding crisis. Government commissioner for the Opera Szilveszter Ókovács said without the subsidy artists could not be contracted in the second half of the year, and the Opera House could not reopen in the autumn.
