On Friday, several buildings in Budapest were lit up in green in celebration of Saint Patrick’s Day. On Sunday, the Irish national holiday was celebrated by a parade around the city. The Hungarian capital has joined the campaign of the Irish Tourist Board to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day worldwide.

August 20th is Hungary's National Day commemorating King Stephen, the first king of the Hungarian sand the founder of the Hungarian state. He led in the Catholicism with the protection of Rome. Traffic changes will be made in public transport service and on roads and Danube bridges on the eve and the day of St. Stephen’s Day (Tuesday, 19 August and Wednesday, 20 August 2014). Already on 19 August 2014, traffic restrictions will be in place at several locations in the city due to preparations for the celebrations, therefore some public transport lines will run on modified routes.
