State railway company MÁV indefinitely cancelled all international train traffic after 8 a.m. Thursday, citing “safety reasons”. Passengers wishing to travel abroad will have to disembark within Hungary and transfer to trains run by foreign companies. MÁV officials told reporters that they could no longer guarantee the safety of Hungarian passengers.

Passenger transport is set to restart on the refurbished rail track between Esztergom and Budapest on Thursday after a Ft 44.5 billion, three-year project reached completion 18 months behind schedule.
