Over 2,000 residents had to leave their 14th District homes yesterday after World War II artillery shells were found on Istvánmezei út. The two shells, unearthed during sewerage works, were defused by bomb disposal experts in the evening, allowing residents to return to their homes.

Those who refuse to move on can be sentenced to public service work, fined or put in prison. Civil society groups say the government is criminalising vagrancy and not dealing with the root causes.
