The name of Igor Moisevey (born in 1906 in Kiev) became well-known by the style named after him, which he created by alloying the dances of different peoples with the elements of traditional ballet. He learnt dancing in the studio of the Great Theatre in Moscow. In 1924 he was already dancing in the Bolsoi, then became solo dancer and later ballet master. In 2014 the Annual Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, 9 November. The traditional service and wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the Commonwealth War Cemetery of Solymár at 10:55. Everybody is welcome to attend the ecumenical service. Those who do are kindly requested to arrive at the cemetery no later than 10:45 please. The service lasts approximately 20 minutes.

The Choir specializes in Renaissance music as well as works from the twentieth century choral repertoire. They are frequent participants and volunteers in our Saint Margaret’s music programme.

Considering Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s recent pledge to create a workfare state, it may seem odd that Hungarians are to get a slew of new national holidays. However, the 11 new days “of elevated importance” will mean state-coordinated celebrations, but no extra days off work.

The 16th annual Hungarian Jewish Summer Festival is currently being held in Budapest between 25 August and 2 September and offers various programs introducing Jewish culture. The festival is the largest of its kind in Europe and this year the Prime Minister’s Office is sponsoring the event with 58 million forints.
