It commemorates the Revolution of 1956, when Hungarians rose up against the Soviet ruled communist system and also the ‘Day of the Republic’, as in 1989 Hungary was declared a republic. On October 22nd and 23rd there are several programs held throughout Hungary.

The sale of Raiffeisen Bank’s Hungarian unit is not on the agenda of the parent company, Heinz Wiedner, chief executive of Raiffeisen Bank Zrt told Monday’s Napi Gazdasag. The law tabled by Fidesz’s parliamentary leader Antal Rogán passed in a vote of 298 to 7 with 5 abstentions. Under the law, the price of gas will fall by 6.5% from April while the price of electricity will be cut by 5.7% from September. District heating will be cut by 3.3% from October this year.
