Workers’ Home Construction in Hungary Gets A Boost - Limit on Foreign Tenants
The government has earmarked nearly Ft 20 billion in subsidies for the construction of 25-30 residential buildings for workers in the next three years, the Economy Ministry announced.

Foreign workers can only stay in the units if there is no demand from Hungarian workers and may occupy no more than 50% of capacity.

The subsidy may cover 30-75% of costs for homes hosting 80-200 workers.

The facilities should be operated as workers’ homes for at least 10 years and employ at least four jobseekers.

If more than 50% of the tenants are foreigners, then part of the subsidy must be repaid.

There are also minimum requirements on occupancy ratios.
