Adult Hungarian Internet users now claim to read fewer books than five years ago. E-books may undoubtedly help stop the decrease in the time spent reading; in fact, they could cause a rebound, states the latest research document in eNET-Telekom’s series titled “Report on the Internet Economy”. State communications company NISZ has signed an agreement to buy 100% of broadcaster Antenna Hungária from French company TDF effective May 30, it was announced yesterday. NISZ, owned by state asset manager MNV, will pay Ft 55.9 billion for the company.

State-owned mobile operator MPVI and telecoms provider Invitel plan to form a consortium, Napi Gazdasag writes. MPVI dismissed the report as a rumour, adding that it aims to co-operate on mobile virtual network operations with its partners.

The owner of VirusBuster, the maker of the anti-virus software of the same name, is removing its products from the market as of October and closing down. The company, founded in 1997, said substantial changes have occurred on the market and it is no longer able to maintain its operations economically.

"Some 1,200 employees of Nokia received notices of dismissal yesterday, as the mobile-phone maker began the first wave of job cuts at its Komárom factory. The Finnish company announced layoffs of 2,300, roughly half of the Hungarian workforce, in February as it moves production of smart phones closer to suppliers and markets in Asia.

"Media and communications authority NMHH has excluded RCS & RDS, the company behind the brand name Digi, and Vietnamese telecom company Viettel from the 900MHz frequency tender.
