With the hot weather finally here, I have been making the rounds of the new beer gardens. I tried Otkert (Zrinyi u. 4, 5th district) a few weeks ago at about 5pm. The place is done up nice, and conveniently located without being overpriced for its location. The good news is that Hungarians tend to adore children. Everyone, it seems, from the little old lady in the grocery line to the tough-looking security guard makes a big fuss over children. Waiters are generally patient when it comes to dining with children, even when their crying doesn’t make them look so cute anymore. The bad news is that restaurants rarely have children’s menus.
