The Albanian Embassy and Hungarian dignitaries unveiled a statue of Mother Teresa in Budapest on Friday to mark Day of International Charity. “Mother Teresa lived an exemplary life, she faced up the horror of poverty and hopelessness and was dedicated to serving the needy,” Zoltán Pokorni, the mayor of District 12 where the statue was erected, told the ceremony.

Hungarian Jews were faithful to Hungary which they regarded as their homeland, and did their best to promote its prosperity, the Israeli ambassador said in Bonyhád in southern Hungary, opening an exhibition in the local synagogue. Ilan Mor said that the co-existence of Jews and non-Jews had been “disrupted” by the Nazis and the Arrow Cross.
