LAKVAR (D): Sabotage and Tradition
Like being in a surreal dream, intentionally sabotaging the crazy reality of the world around us, international band LAKVAR debuts first time ever in Hungary, giving us the very familiar sensation of its egzotic but traditional sounds, subcontiously offering a new world of impressions, visions, smells, tastes, senses and colours of the present and past of Eastern-Europe and the Caucasus.
Soon releasing their second album of contemporary folk music, by cheekily winking at other world music bands with global reputation, their music led by the elemental vocal power and vocal range of singer Hajnalka Péter transports us to the World Heritage Danube Delta area, proving that human voice itself can indeed carry cultural and subcultural heritage.
Even hell could break loose at times if the careful compositions would not set boundaries to the musical and vocal trance; traditional and transcultural Easter- European melodies of lost and found memories, painful blessings and pleasant curses are attempting to help one escape from or to personal oximorons.
Having just had some cooler summer days, a very first Hungarian debut warm-up concert is entering the open-air stage of House of Hungarian Music / Magyar Zene Háza/ on 11 August, free of charge, followed by a next day show in Budapest at the Global Village of Sziget Fesztivál, both starring Hungarian guest musicians Kornél Mogyoró on percussions and Luca Kézdy on violin with co-singer Nina Sára Horváth.
