Last Sunday saw the start of the 15th Jewish Summer Festival – one of Budapest’s most 'prestigious annual programmes of cultural events'. Every year the festival attracts tens of thousands of local visitors and tourists to the capital and its synagogue, which is said to be one of Europe’s most beautiful. The Hungarian Government has also provided funding for this programme of cultural events.

The Jewish Summer Festival, which is traditionally held between the last Sunday in August and the first Sunday in September, is celebrating its 15-year jubilee this year. Fifteen years of age means the most beautiful time of adolescence in terms of human lifetime, so besides our classical programmes, we are planning some surprises to further increase the number of our young visitors.

"Tony Curtis died aged 85 on Wednesday night, his daughter Jamie Lee Curtis announced Thursday. The US movie legend was born Bernard Schwartz in 1925 to Jewish immigrants from Mátészalka, east Hungary. He grew up in the Bronx area of New York and spoke only Hungarian until the age of six.
