Budapest Spring Festival Cancelled

Following the decision of the Hungarian Government, in accordance with WHO guidelines issued in response to the global health emergency, this year’s Budapest Spring Festival, the 40th instalment of the event series, will be cancelled.

Back-to-School equates to Back-to-Sunday-School at Saint Margaret's Anglican Church in Budapest. “Our youngsters really seem to enjoy our varied programme,” says the Rev. Dr. Frank Hegedűs, the Church’s priest and chaplain. “It is dynamic and based upon the Sunday Scripture lessons each week.”

At the end of the Hungarian Season, over the course of four weeks, between 10 May and 10 June, 2017, two centuries of Hungarian opera will be presented in a grand series that includes works by composers as early as József Ruzitska, as recent as Judit Varga and Levente Gyöngyösi, and all major Hungarian opera composers in between, as well as several indispensable choreographic works.

The location of Children Island had to be changed the previous weekend due to the food peaking – however the event was just as successful as in earlier years, as tens of thousands of children, parents ...
