The celebrations will begin on August 19 when the 'Street of Hungarian Flavours' will open at noon between the Buda side of the Erzsébet híd and Bem tér. Awards will be presented for Hungary’s best cake, sugar-free cake and ice cream. Pop music will play on Clark Ádám tér and on Bem tér from 8pm. Formal events start on Kossuth tér at 8.30 a.m. on August 20. The national flag will be hoisted with ...
Hungarian Mathematician Awarded Abel Prize

Hungarian mathematician Endre Szemerédi received the Abel Prize, the highest distinction that a mathematician may receive, from Norwegian King Harald V in Oslo on Tuesday. Harald called Szemerédi a “prince” of present-day mathematics. The prize comes with a cash award of six million Norwegian kroner (Ft 238 million).
