Hungary has lost another one of its most talented Magyar sons this year with the passing away of the late Tony Curtis (age 85) on Sept 29, 2010. Bernard Swartz, alias Tony Curtis (also known as James Curtis and Anthony Curtis in the begining of his career, launched in 1949) was born to Jewish Hungarian immigrants (from Mateszalka, NE Hungary) in New York’s Bronx district on June 3, 1925.

"Tony Curtis died aged 85 on Wednesday night, his daughter Jamie Lee Curtis announced Thursday. The US movie legend was born Bernard Schwartz in 1925 to Jewish immigrants from Mátészalka, east Hungary. He grew up in the Bronx area of New York and spoke only Hungarian until the age of six.

"Due to the flood not merely the people, but even dogs have been left without a lid. The fate of many thousands of animals turned tragic when the water flooded the houses and the shelters admitting abandoned animals. Families that were placed at temporary homes did not have the possibility to take their faithful dogs to their new accomodations.
Ravenna Mosaics In Dóm Museum At Pécs

British Ambassador to Hungary Mr. Greg Dorey (pictured), guest of honour at this XpatLoop.com event, started proceedings with an informative and entertaining speech about this UK tradition, aka Guy Fawkes Night, to a packed house at the local InterContinental Hotel.
