12-Hour Concert To Promote Fight Against Child Poverty In Budapest

A 12-hour concert in Budapest’s Sports Arena on Sept. 26, backed by a civil initiative, will be held to promote the fight against child poverty. At least 40,000 children in Hungary have no regular access to quality food, the statement said, calling on the government to prepare a new network of free meals for children to reduce this number.

On 20 August, Hungary’s national holiday marking the country’s founding, President of the Republic János Áder presented internationally acknowledged Nobel Prize-winning author Imre Kertész and internationaly reknown inventor Ernő Rubik with the Order of Saint Stephen at the proposal of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

The Corinthia Hotel Budapest organised a pre-premier screening of the film Grand Budapest Hotel, on Tuesday March 18th. The event took place in the VIP Section of Cinema City at Arena Plaza, where local and international media guests had the pleasure of tasting fine food and drinks before the film commenced.

Gábor Czene of Népszabadság conducted an interview with Tamás Fabiny, bishop of the northern district of the Hungarian Lutheran Church. Fabiny was ordained in Erlangen, Germany in 1982. He also studied in the United States. In addition to his church activities he worked for Duna TV. Since 2010 he has been the vice chairman of the Lutheran World Federation.
